Evans, Jones & Reynolds was founded in 1986 by four lawyers who shared a vision to provide complete client services with a high level of expertise in a responsive small firm environment. The firm has successfully followed that vision for over thirty years, meeting the needs of its individual and business clients.
The firm’s founding members were well established members of the Bar in Nashville and in Tennessee. J. Clarence Evans was licensed to practice law in 1941 but immediately reported for active duty in World War II. After serving in the United States Air Force and receiving the Distinguished Flying Cross, he returned to Nashville and began practicing law in 1946. His father, Giles L. Evans, served as President of the Tennessee Bar Association in 1919-1920 and practiced law in Tennessee and in Nashville until his death in 1937.
Richard A. Jones served in the United States Air Force during 1951-1957 and practiced law continuously in Nashville from 1960 until his retirement in 2013.
The other founding members of the firm were Winston S. Evans, who began practicing law in Nashville in 1978, and J. Allen Reynolds III. Mr. Reynolds began practicing law in his hometown of Montgomery, Alabama in 1980. In 1982, he moved to Nashville, where he has practiced law since.
The remaining partners of the firm are Phillip Byron Jones, Jeffrey J. Switzer and John M. McDonald. Phillip Byron Jones began his practice in Clarksville, Tennessee, joining the firm in 1991. Jeffrey J. Switzer began his practice in Memphis and joined the firm in 2002. John M. McDonald, a native of Nashville, began his practice in Nashville and joined Evans, Jones & Reynolds in 2010.
Evans, Jones & Reynolds has been listed by Martindale-Hubbell in the Bar Register of Preeminent Lawyers since 1999 and consists of a nucleus of lawyers with a wide range of skills. Two of the firm’s partners hold advanced legal degrees in taxation and practice in the areas of federal and state taxation, estate planning, and business transactions. Other members of the firm practice primarily in civil litigation, covering a broad range of issues. Some of those matters include appeals, contract disputes, business torts, legal-malpractice defense, creditors’ rights, identity theft, securities arbitration and litigation, landlord and tenant disputes, administrative and regulatory matters. The firm also represents individuals who have suffered serious personal injury (or death) as the result of work-related accidents or as the result of negligence or intentional misconduct by third parties.
Although Evans, Jones & Reynolds is a litigation law firm, one of our partners is a Rule 31 Mediator handling conflict resolution.
Our clients range from individuals and small businesses to publicly-held companies. Evans, Jones & Reynolds strives to continue in its long-standing tradition of serving clients promptly, efficiently, and effectively.
